UEFA Using Blockchain To Sell Tickets
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced in a press release about its success. The Union has implemented a new ticketing system via mobile phones based on blockchain technology.
Three months of work definitely pay off, because 100% of tickets for the UEFA Super Cup soccer match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid held in Tallinn, Estonia on August 15 were sold via blockchain ticketing system. The system is available for iOS and Android as a blockchain-based application. UEFA also provided a video in which there is explained how to use mobile tickets.
“[…] to make its ticket sales process for matches more simple and safe — thanks to a new system aimed at providing secure ticket distribution, and which prevents the replication and duplication of tickets.”
