Cryptocurrencies. If you’re here – I guess you know them. In the beginning, crypto was created to be a digital currency that helps you avoid third-party institutions. But at some point, people started to think about investments or to make it as a joke.
First one was Bitcoin. A cryptocurrency strictly design to become a payment method or a subject of investments. Second popular cryptocurrency for newbies is probably a Dogecoin. A cryptocurrency based on a dog from funny Internet memes. But in the cryptoworld, few other projects might seem as a joke but are true.
These projects were created to become – as Bitcoin – a payment method but in a limited environment. With DentaCoin you pay for dentists’ services (if they are accepting this cryptocurrency). As you can read on the project’s website: “Dentacoin is the first Blockchain concept designed for the Global Dental Industry. The Dentacoin ERC20 token is configured to be used globally by all individuals. Dentacoin aims at improving dental care worldwide and making it affordable through crowd power. Numerous Blockchain-based tools will be developed and implemented.”
Slightly different is MusiCoin, but still, it’s based on limited environment. This time, musicians. This cryptocurrency is mined on MusiCoin’s website where artists can upload their music. As you probably guessed, for every user that will listen to it – a musician is getting a cryptocurrency. For me, as a big fan of good music – I will definitely look at this project closer.
Last, but not least. Kodak, the world known camera company, is launching blockchain based projects. KodakCoin and KodakOne. How will it work? Well, the cryptocurrency KodakCoin and service KodakOne might help photographers. After sending their arts to a platform, KodakCoin will monitor the Internet. If the platform will find a stolen photograph it “can efficiently manage the post-licensing process to reward photographers”.
CEO Jeff Clarke said: ‘Engaging with a new platform, it is critical photographers know their work and their income is handled securely and with trust, which is exactly what we did with KODAKCoin.’
As you can see, blockchain based services are becoming more and more common every day. Will the cryptocurrencies dominate over fiat currencies one day? What do you think?
