SpankChain, a blockchain-based startup focused on the adult entertainment industry, has paid $72,000 in cryptocurrency to the webcam performers. SpankChain models say that they earn more now than earlier on different porn sites.

The blockchain technology is becoming more and more mainstream. Not only it is gaining attention in the financial and sports industry, but also in the adult entertainment. Earlier this year, Pornhub accepted Verge, one of cryptocurrency, as a payment method.

Promising early results

According to CoinDesk, SpanChain gathered 6,136 users as of October. The site was launched in April. Since then, it has paid $72,422 to its 31 models.

A week ago, the company celebrated its first anniversary.

In 2017, SpankChain raised $6 million in an Initial Coin Offering (ICO).

More money to performers

Usually, webcam sites charge standard 50 percent of all earnings. However, SpanChain takes only 5 percent. Thanks to that, models make more money than ever.

River Sunshine, one of the performers, counted her payments. She said:

“I was making on three sites combined, 6 percent of what I made in the same 30-day period on SpankChain. I have more a sense of freedom to do [unconventional content], I wish I could pay my rent and bills directly from my crypto wallet.”

Another model, Molly Mae Meow added that she also makes much more money via SpankChain. First, the two adult entertainers were skeptical about the blockchain technology. Now, they “really, really love crypto.”

The good word is spreading fast. According to the company’s data, every week 20 new performers join the project.

They have much more control over the show, comparing to other webcam sites. River Sunshine even said that SpankChain has changed her life and she is excited to get before the cam now.
