Bitcoin, as you probably know, is the most popular cryptocurrency and also – the first one. Created in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto, a mysterious programmer who created not only crypto but also blockchain technology on which digital currencies are based.
The journey of Bitcoin can be called a turbulent one. The price acted very stably until the end of 2017 when it reached its highest value of over $20,000. The 5600% growth surprised traders and investors but also made headlines for BTC, making it vastly recognizable outside the original crypto community.
Since BTC price dropped (one month later after its ALT – all-time high), the community was speculating if the cryptocurrency will repeat the December ‘17 success. The loudest were big names like John McAfee who predicts BTC will reach $1 million by the end of 2020, Chamath Palihapitiya with the same prediction but by the end of 2037 and Thomas Lee – $25,000 by the end of 2018. To this small betting/prediction game has joined a new player who has decided to stay anonymous.
As Tom Waterhouse, one of the biggest Australian book masters, reported – some crypto expert has bet that 1 bitcoin will exceed the price of 1 share in Berkshire Hathaway by the end of 2023. He bet exact 8,5 million AUD and the prize, in that case, will reach 1,2 billion AUD (~884,7 million dollars).
Right now, the price of BTC is $6 277,04 and the price for 1 share of Warren Buffet Berkshire Hathaway is around 280,000 USD.
Big Bet: Well known Crypto expert has just requested a bet of $8.5m AUD to win $1.2bn that a Bitcoin will exceed the price of a Berkshire Hathaway share (c.$280k) by 2023. Have put him in touch with large syndicate – hope he can get set! pic.twitter.com/C20AHzH2k9
